英國(guó)ABC攝制的經(jīng)典間諜劇集The Avengers在整個(gè)60年代紅極一時(shí)，風(fēng)靡英語(yǔ)世界，時(shí)至今日仍然吸引著世界各地?zé)o數(shù)的擁躉，成為和The Prisoner、Doctor Who等齊名的老牌英國(guó)Cult TV經(jīng)典，而國(guó)內(nèi)也曾在80年代以《復(fù)仇天使》的譯名引進(jìn)其中一小部分。The Avengers系列結(jié)束10年以后，劇集制作人Brian Clemens和Albert Fennell在70年代創(chuàng)作、拍攝了續(xù)集The New Avengers，同樣獲得相當(dāng)大的成功，國(guó)內(nèi)在80年代曾以《三個(gè)偵探》的不當(dāng)譯名引進(jìn)。 The New Avengers沿用了The Avengers系列的男主角超級(jí)特工John Steed（Patrick Macnee），原系列中的美女搭檔換成了兩個(gè)年輕后輩Mike Gambit和Purdy。劇情配合冷戰(zhàn)背景，涉及間諜與反間諜、有組織犯罪、科幻等多種題材，很多創(chuàng)意在當(dāng)時(shí)頗有前衛(wèi)性，因而在70年代重掀Avengers熱潮。電視攝像與制作技術(shù)在10年間的發(fā)展，使得The New Avengers比前作顯得更為專(zhuān)業(yè)。雖然和如今的好萊塢大片相比，The New Avengers在噱頭和視覺(jué)效果方面要相差很多，但是在70年代其地位還是相當(dāng)高的，而在今天作為懷舊經(jīng)典仍然具有相當(dāng)不錯(cuò)的觀(guān)賞性和娛樂(lè)性。

Norman Taylor is a successful young professor, married with Tansy Taylor. He is a very skeptical man, while his wife believes in magic and witchcraft. Norman in principle does not have faith in her, but many strange events happen with him, and he changes his mind
